Who is Guild Super?

GuildSuper was established 15 years ago by the Pharmacy Guild of Australia (PGA) to provide superannuation services to workers in the pharmacy industry.

GuildSuper currently manages $2 billion in super savings for over 80,000 Australians and, in 2019, won multiple awards - including the World Pension Summit award for innovation for its ground-breaking program SUPERSUPER.

With GuildSuper as your super fund, you will have access to SUPERSUPER, their shop-and-save rewards program, which enables you to add to your super each time you shop. It works by contributing a percentage of every dollar you spend with participating retailers into your GuildSuper account. You can shop online, or pre-purchase vouchers to use in-store or online.

SUPERSUPER is available exclusively to GuildSuper members. For more information, visit guildsuper.com.au/supersuper

What is Superannuation?

Superannuation (also called ‘super’) is money saved for your retirement. Super is built up during the years you are working to help you live comfortably when you are no longer earning an income.

Australia has a compulsory super system. That means by law, your employer must pay money into a super fund on your behalf if you are eligible. This money is then invested, usually in the sharemarket, and the earnings reinvested to help your account balance grow over time.

The money paid into super by your employer is on top of your salary, so it doesn’t come out of your take home pay. If you want, you can add more to your super at any time by making extra payments yourself. This will help your savings grow even faster through the power of compound interest.

Many super funds offer their members a basic level of insurance cover. This provides financial support if you pass away or become sick or injured and are unable to work. It’s important to check with your super fund if you have insurance cover as the fees are taken from your account.

You might think you don’t need to worry about super now while you’re young, but when you retire, you’ll be glad that you did. The sooner you take an interest the better off you could be. Take a moment to watch this video about how super works… it might just change your life!
